Everyone wants to be successful. No one on this earth ever wakes up and says “I’m going to do nothing, all day, every day, and get nowhere in life.”
Every single person wants to do well, but whether they have the motivation and wherewithal to do it is an entirely different story. There are the few and far between stories of people who make it on their own and by themselves, but this is not that story we are going to get into today.
Today we are going to talk about ways to make yourself successful, and for you to be able to use this conversation as a guide to help you on your way to success!
This is your guide to success…
The first thing you have to do is realize your potential. You can’t keep telling yourself that you can’t do it, or that you aren’t good enough. Because that isn’t true, or else you wouldn’t be here. As long as you have the motivation to even look at these words, you have the motivation and drive to complete your project. You do have the potential to reach your goals. So be patient with yourself, and keep telling yourself kind words to get yourself through instead of putting yourself down when you slip up. Determine your core values, what’s best for yourself, and see the person that you want to be.
While you’re picturing what you want to be, realize that you’re only going to get places by looking towards the future. If you start looking behind you, you’ll lose sight of where you’re going and crash and burn. Mistakes are meant to be learned from, not dwelled upon. This goes back to being kind to yourself. When you make a mistake, tell yourself that you can do better, that you can realize your full potential by learning a different, more efficient way of doing something, not that you’re useless for making the mistake in the first place. Today is the day that you will get started. You reading this is the first step to your success.
Your second step is making a plan. You might be able to get by without it, but most likely you won’t get very far before losing sight of where you’re going. A plan is a blueprint for success, so be sure to write one out and keep track of it. Try to do at least one to two big things a week, that way you don’t get overwhelmed, but you’re staying on top of what needs to be done. Having this plan will help you keep track of everything involved with your goal.
Part of having goals is dreaming. You dream about what it’s going to be like after you reach your goal; you dream about ways to achieve that goal. Dreams are a good and necessary part of having a successful experience. Allow your mind to wander and dream, experience different ways of thinking and you will find new ways to reach your goal. These ways might even be better fit to help you accomplish what needs to be done. Be sure to be honest with yourself about what you want, and to remember what made you want to start towards this goal in the first place.
Lastly, you have to remember not to give up. Keeping on the path you need to take is hard, but is doable. You have to preserve. Remember, when it took Thomas Edison thousands of times to get the light bulb right, he didn’t fail even once, he just found thousands of ways not to make a light bulb. When it gets challenging, you have to keep going, no matter what. Only then will you be successful. Remember, your goal is in your grasp.
